Mpho mokiri is a Musician well known as Maleboo, he is a rapper
He was born in Limpopo province, sekhukhune district, gaphahla village. Growing up was a wonderful experience for him, he didn't grew up poorly at all.
He started to love music when he was in high school, in 2001, by that time he didn't have the idea of being a musician. He started to write his own songs in 2012, started to produce and learnt more about production. He released his first song in 2015.
He says that he was not inspired by anyone to do music, it's just that he loved music alot that's why he decided to do music, and he is very dope. He shot a video while he was in the studio, this video went viral and reached more than 200 000 views. People loved that song and it helped him to get recognised by many people, and people who can invest and him, this video helped him to grow his music career.
His music is very unique and adorable as he rap with his mother tongue (Sepedi Home Language), rapping with that language is unusual and too rare, at first people were saying he should change that and rap with English or isizulu, but he refused to do that. Now he have many followers, more than 20 000 followers on Facebook and many followers on other platforms because of his pedi rap.
He want people to normalise that it's possible to rap with Sepedi, and show that music is not about the language but it's about the talent. Many rappers in South Africa chose to rap with isizulu and English, but he want to show people that sepedi is also a perfect language that can be used to do music, "all languages fit", he says. This motivated many people and got the Youth inspired. At first people were teasing him because of the language he uses, but today he is one of the big artists in South Africa and many musicians wants to work with him.
He want to leave a mark and break the record, and make people believe that Sepedi is the best language that can be used to record songs, and honestly speaking, many people are now rapping with Sepedi home Language because they got inspired by Him.
In the next 5 years, he will be owning his own record label that will be signing young talented artists, he said, and he believes that in years to come sepedi home language will be recognised as the best language for music like isizulu and English.
He believe that if you develop and introduce something unique, people will fall in love with your stuff and you will get alot of attention, that's his message to the youth and his followers.
Covid-19 affected him negatively and positively, as he got the chance to record more videos of his unreleased songs, he got recognised more, but on the other hand, he got affected in terms of bookings, he got fewer bookings
