Maluty, A rapper from Lesotho

Mopholosi Mokotso, a hip hop musician from lesotho mostly known by his stage name Maluty.

He have three siblings and a single mother, was born and raised in Thaba-Tseka district in Lesotho. He went to Katlehong primary school and completed his high school level at Thaba-Tseka high school. He is currently based in Maseru since from 2018. Growing up was not easy for him, he was raised by a single mother, she was really a struggling parent since the death of his father, his father passed away when he was very young.

her mother crossed the borders to South Africa for domestic works and they rarely seen her. She left them with nannies to look after them. Every time when schools were closed they had to visit their grandparents, to cut cost of living in town and we helped them with domestic works. He loved Music from a very young age. By 2014 he started writing his first song but he released his first single in 2017.

Nobody motivated him to do music he just had love to do it. Radio Lesotho got him falling for hip hop genre. It was the only radio station reaching his area. He released his first EP (My feelings) by the year 2020 and he did it solo, he recorded the whole EP alone, he wanted to experiment with myself. By 2022 he is willing to release another EP but this time he will collaborate with Molly, one of the female talented vocalists in Lesotho.

In future, he would also like to work with K-fire as one of the talented local artists. he would like to work with him because he like his sound, even before he could sing or do Music. It will also be a privilege and a dream come true for Maluty to work with his role model Simmy as time goes and the day this happens he will really be most proud of himself

by 2020 he performed at help Lesotho alumni reunion which was held at Leribe Lesotho. He was the main act together with Senqu Jazz Band on the music side. Also by the same year, he was booked for cancer victims comedy show hosted by popular local comedian Lilaphalapha but it did not happen due to covid 19 pandemic. He have been interviewed by different radio stations so far in his country like Radio Lesotho, KEL Radio, Bokamoso fm, Info hub fm, Motjoli fm and few of others. He also collaborated with Treasure an artist from South Africa this year and he consider this one of his major moves.



he passes messages on songs and he also write about daily life events. So on the last EP he wrote about feelings. How one can feel against a certain issue. On My feelings EP he wrote about his own feelings, Love, ambitions, frustrations, political issues, this are some of the feelings he wrote and sang about on his first EP. his music relates to many people.


"I want to be remembered for making positive impact on people's lives with my music and art of this is that I will live forever even while I will be long gone. I am not the type to dream much on people's eyes but my hard work tells me I will be one of the unique well known artists by then. All I can say is that people can watch the space and see this happening and pray for me to live so that this can be fulfilled. All I can say to people who love my music is that they should stick with me because sometimes when I drown they are my hope that I have to get back on track and lead the way", he says. Covid-19 has blocked his major moves and he believes that he will be on the higher level that his current level. By 2020 he was already up to performing on the big events in the country but corona virus pandemic didn't allow that to happen. he did accomplish one of the best marketing deal of which was turned down because people had to face their problems by then. The only positive impact this pandemic offered him is that he only got time to record his first Ep.
