Mercedes Mahlatse Boshego, known as Mr. Mercedes was born in Gauteng, Pretoria, in the dusty streets of Soshanguve. Currently based on the North of Pretoria.
His appearance is different, growing up people used to tease him and making him feel like he is not like other people, he have red hair fair skin, he was bullied a lot and made fun of. He distanced himself away from people, spent more time on TV and that's were he fell in love with music. Now he got many people surprised because he made into the music industry.
"I guess the time I spent alone made me develop the love for music", he says. His father had alot of collection of musical cassettes and LPs. Her mother loved soul music.
"The ability to arrange music and work on every individual instrument stems from how my mother calmed me down by changing the subject from what I was crying for to listening to individual instruments in a song. Then the love for Piano started there", he says. He was 6 years old, music made him to feel better, healed him when he was not feeling okay and that made him to love music alot. He is currently producing for a couple of Artists , different genres. His recent releases are the afro pop EP by AKHONA , tiltles FEZA, A hip-hop single from RAKGADI G titled Heavens Gates, an upcoming rock and roll EP titled SOCIETY from 1r year old named Lanii who has a single out named Running, an EP from MAOFE THE GENERAL called KING OF TSHWANE RAP.
"I basically chose these artists because the curiosity their talent sparks in me is crazy", he says. LANII write her own Music which is amazing by such a young person . AKHONA is able to twist her voice to any style and she is an amazing song writer. RAKGADI G is a crazy female hip-hop artist who flow is off the chains . MAOFE is just a beast, Well known for his cutting edge lyrics and word play which hit the core.
His big highlights of his career are the people he have worked with before he started his own record label a few years ago. He worked with LadyZamar, Dj Fortee, Marvellous DJ, Divine Brothers, Niniola, Kelly Khumalo, Arthur mafokate, Afrikan Roots, Black Motion, BlakLez, mackenzie, Cici, Crimson Blu, Dj Mahoota and vatkook, Celimpilo from UHURu, DJ bucks and many more.
He wish to show young people that it is possible to know about something levels which not many consider. He want the talented ones to know their worth and pass their knowledge. He want to be remembered as the producer who had not limits from making country, to making jazz, to making amapiano, and all that exists. He want to be remember as "The best to ever do it".
He see Noted Colony as the biggest record label with only great and original music with freedom of speech and not limit to the truth. I see myself having an army of music heads who are the best to ever do it. His advice to people is that once you've started something, don't stop until you finish it, If you've started a song , don't stop until it sounds as beautiful as it does in your mind, Music has a lot to do with the mind and what you consider, that's where you'll develop yourself as an artist or music maker, Believe in yourself, Know that you can do it because of it's something that has been done before, It was done by other humans just like you.
Covid 19 affected everyone he knows, including himself, financially and mentally because for people like him, not being able to do what you love is very draining and also it didn't help, some of people only do music for a living and everything just paused. He is very glad that we are slowly recovering and hoping we come back stronger and better as a country.
