Mafapane Ruth Shai is a female musician known as Ruth, too ambitious.
She was Born in a small township called SOLOMONDALE and currently based in Ga-Dikgale-Solomondale, Limpopo, raised by her Grandparents while the parents were working in Gauteng. She grew up in a house full of love, warmth and music. Her grandfather loved jazz music.
She started singing at the age of 9 in school choirs, she fell in love with her sound only when he was 14 years old after getting farmiliar with different genre's such as Pop and RnB, she used to do covers. in 2021 she met people who were doing hiphop music, introduced her to Trap and soul.
I got into music because music is like a safe place where she could find peace and be able to express my feels and thoughts. She was motivated by her music-icon Anne marie, She's a well known singer. She motivated her because she is able to tell her life story and her thoughts through music and she is passionate about her career.
She released her first project 'I'm Ruth'. "The reasom I tittle it I'm Ruth is because i wanted it to serve as a proper intro to everyone", she says. She want to let the whole world know who Ruth is and what how musically talented she is. Also to serve as a foundation of a new artist, and that the world should be ready to walk this journey with me. She wants to work with shakhinah, cause she has a unique sound that is vibrant and soothing not forgetting her amazing voice.
The best highlight of her career would be seeing everyone getting farmiliar with the her music, South Africans are showing her love and she wasn't expecting to see such a positive response. She do music that makes people find peace and comfort and be able to find solutions that would help them heal both Emotionally and psychologically. For her Music is like medication, it heals, so she also wants to heal people with her music as music is healing her too.
She would really like to be remembered as that artist/singer who was vibrant and fun, the artist who gave it her all through music, not just an entertainer/singer but a therapist through her music. She will start her own record label to groom local artists.
"The message that i have for my fans is that i really appreciate their support and also being patient with me since the beginning and thanks for walking me through the journey and i hope they are ready because this is jus the beginning. And to the young people, they should follow their dreams cause dreams are the most important things to accomplish im one's life.and that they should know what they want, know who they are and never pretend to be who they are not.and strive to be the person who they really want to be because in the end they are the realest person they can be to themselves, the first opinion that matters is the one you tell yourself. You don't need someone's opinion as its your life.your Rules.lasty remember to enjoy and have fun in the journey they choose for themselves.Forever isn't promised as certain things are out of our control so they should be afraid to be different or take a different path than others, learn to break the norm", she says
"I wouldn't say covid affected my music career that much cause im still a beginner as i haven't really performed to a real crowd but i think it put so much strain to the entertainment industry because artist weren't able to perform or get in contact with their fans and they haven't really got their usual income as concerts, festivals and gigs.but i hope and pray that the virus eases soon and things go back to normal as i myself can't wait to show what I've got to the world", she says
